Experimental Design

It is important that you understand experimental design in psychology. It is the main method used in many areas of psychological research. The first video will help you understand the basic concept and why this method leads to conclusions about Cause and Effect.

This video will supplement your knowledge of basic experimental design. This information is absolutely essential to succeeding in this class.

On your own: you will need to understand the difference between independent and dependent variables, extraneous variables, and operational definitions. Eventually you will need to note the differences, benefits, and cons of experimental design vs. observational research (correlations).
